RV - Winter Essentials

Most full-time RVers go south to the warmth each winter. Not us! Each winter, we have picked a new-to-us ski area, gotten season passes, and fully enjoyed the mountains and towns.

  • 2021 - Taos, New Mexico - Taos Ski Valley

  • 2022 - McCall, Idaho - Brundage and Tamarack

  • 2023 - Ogden, Utah - Snowbasin

  • 2024 - Victor, Idaho - Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole, Big Sky

  • 2025 - Pagosa Springs, Colorado - Wolf Creek

Kelly is an expert at keeping our RV home cozy and warm. Below are some of our keep-cozy-in-an-RV-in-winter recommendations:

Concrete Blankets

We skirt our RV in the winter with concrete blankets. They are like insulated tarps and have proven to keep us cozy through Idaho winters.

Tarp Clips

We have these mounted under the camper to attach the concrete blankets. These are attached all year and used in the winter.

Reflectix

Reflectix is useful in cold and hot temperatures. Kelly cut two pieces for each window and taped them together. When it’s very cold or very hot, we put them in our windows and it keeps the offending temperature outside.

Heat Holders Socks

My dad got me some of these socks a few winters ago and I love them so much. We both have some. They are warm, breathable, and so soft. I keep two pairs to rotate during the winter. These are a must for winter in an RV.

Sofa Blanket

I (Michelle) love my lap blanket most of the year - in my recliner and out by a campfire. The Pendleton blankets are a great quality and oh, so cozy. We have one lap blanket and one for our bed.

Flannel Sheets

It’s so nice to get into flannel sheets on a chilly night. They’re soft and warm. When the snow starts falling, we switch to flannel sheets.

Air Purifier/Space Heater

This puts out a nice heat and has a thermostat to keep our space comfortable. It’s also an air purifier, which has proven helpful during fire season.

Tea Infuser Basket

We love a good cup of hot tea. The cap on this is also where you can put the basket after the tea is brewed. The mesh is small so no bits get into your tea.

Brownies!

I figured out that when I want a brownie, THIS is the kind I want. There’s no point in being disappointed by buying one somewhere, even at a fancy bakery because Ghirardelli is the best brownie out there. Also, these don’t last long in our house. For that reason, we don’t have them often.
